Mental health has a profound impact on how we experience life, shaping our thoughts, emotions, and interactions with the world. When my mental health feels balanced and strong, it’s as though a weight has been lifted; I feel capable, focused, and at peace. There’s clarity in my thoughts and a sense of connection to myself and others. During these times, I find it easier to face challenges with resilience, appreciating the beauty in small moments and feeling a genuine sense of joy and fulfillment.

On the other hand, when mental health takes a hit, it can feel overwhelming and isolating. Emotions might become heavy and tangled, making even simple tasks feel like monumental efforts. There’s a vulnerability that comes with these moments—a sense of being unmoored. It’s easy to feel misunderstood or alone, even when surrounded by others. Yet, these experiences often deepen my understanding of myself and my capacity for growth. They remind me of the importance of seeking support and practicing self-compassion.

Reflecting on how mental health makes me feel has taught me to value both the highs and lows. The moments of struggle build empathy and remind me to prioritise care, while the brighter moments reinforce the strength and hope that carry me forward. Mental health isn’t static; it’s a dynamic part of life that requires attention, patience, and understanding. Recognising this has helped me approach myself and others with greater kindness and appreciation for the shared human experience.
