My Poetry ITS A MANS WORLD
He glances down at the towering pile of washing,
Truly not sure what action he should pursue.
Does he dare put his essential white shirt in
With those brightly coloured shirts of bold blue?
Towels and scattered clothes are everywhere,
He shoves them all fiercely into the machine;
Music is blaring in the background now,
And hot water is already causing the steam.

Switching on the washing machine with one hand,
With the other, he frantically dusts the shelves.
"Wow!" he thinks in genuine disbelief,
"I honestly thought these things cleaned themselves!"
Dirty dishes are sadly packed high on the counter,
The sink faces a truly daunting task.
Will he finally dawn his heavy rubber gloves?
Did you even have to ask?

Next, it's time to quickly go and make the bed,
Thinking mistakenly it's an easy, quick chore.
All you do is give the duvet a strong flick,
And instantly, it's sprawling on the floor!
Time to put the frantic kettle on for tea,
The sweat is already beading off his tired brow.
"Running out of milk, again?" he mutters,
"I honestly need to go out and buy a cow!"

The washing machine turns at a deadly pace now,
It’s a technological, humming wizard.
"Wait, isn't that my favorite boxer shorts?"
He spots them desperately flapping in the blizzard.
Time to reluctantly get the heavy vacuum cleaner out,
A massive machine designed to make life easy,
But pushing this giant, monstrous tube of plastic
Immediately makes his tired back feel queasy!

He's doubled over in a sharp bout of pain,
Hobbling slowly toward the welcoming couch.
He realizes housework is certainly not an easy task—
In fact, he'd honestly describe it as a definite OUCH!!!
