My Poetry.  The Unopened Door!
The job market door was never opened to him;
It was slammed shut in every single place.
He longed simply to work, to contribute, so badly,
To spare his good name from the sting of disgrace.
All of his friends found ready employment,
But still, he was unable to secure a job.
They held their proud, visible qualifications;
He was silently taunted, called a useless slob.

He was deemed incapable of learning at school,
Yet no proper diagnosis could ever be found.
Back then, the difficulty wasn't recognized or named,
His struggles were immense, enough to astound.
Poor teaching and simple ignorance
Were the true culprits behind all his deep plight.
People simply weren't educated enough to be aware,
And meaningful change would not happen overnight.

No one truly understood his complex Dyslexia,
He didn't even grasp the nature of it himself.
He was chastised and scolded by his own worried parents,
Left in fear that he would be simply "left on the shelf."
Suffering in silence due to that vast ignorance,
His potential life seemed tragically wasted away.
No one truly understood the suffering of this boy,
Or the important, valid things he had to say.

In this modern age of recognition and awareness,
Children can thankfully get vital help right at the start.
So those struggling must not suffer in silence now,
Or feel that your entire life is being torn apart.
Employers now have a legal duty to be compliant;
They must accept that some people learn at a different pace.
With proper training, patience, and true support,
They will genuinely embrace and welcome your talent.

Discrimination is clearly against the written law,
Though loopholes and evasions still sadly exist, it's true.
Employers still often do exactly as they please,
Desperate to only fill their experienced crew.
The rights of many people are carelessly scrutinized
In this age of crushing impatience and urgent hurry.
No one has much time for compassion these days,
And hence, genuine understanding remains tragically blurry.
