Verb: to dip in liquid, especially in water
In Scotland we used to Dook for Apples at Halloween
which was putting your head in a basin of water to catch an apple with your teeth.
In a sentence: “Dook yer haun in the watter an see if it’s cauld.”
In English: “Dunk your hand in the water and see if it’s cold.”

We used to Dunk for apples every Halloween at our Halloween parties! Such Fun!!!
