Daffodils are bravely peeking
From the hard, still-frosted ground,
Growing now in vibrant bunches,
Millions brightly blooming all around.
Lovely, fresh, crisp air now fills the day,
While the vast skies begin to clear;
Temperatures are steadily rising,
And the gentle warmth of spring is truly near.
Birds are busily tweeting,
Scrounging for food for their young;
Flying quickly back to their nests,
To feed their hungry brood, sweetly sung.
Happy kids are out eagerly playing,
At the very first sign of seasonal fun;
Their heavy winter anoraks are now jilted,
Beneath the bright, warming spring sun.
Longer, lighter nights are finally here,
The heavy darkness of winter has gone;
The golden sun shines much earlier now,
Right at the joyful crack of dawn.
