Technically AC/DC are an Australian creation, but Scotland had a massive part to play in the formation of one of rock and roll’s greatest bands. AC/DC were formed by Glasgow-born brothers, Angus and Malcolm Young, with another Scotsman – lead singer Bon Scott – performing with the band until his death in 1980. The band have sold more than 200 million records, with ‘Back in Black’ being the highest-selling album in the world by any band.

  1. Your piece is a wonderful reminder of how roots and heritage shape the global face of music. I loved how you traced AC/DC’s Scottish lineage—it gives depth to their raw, electric sound that still moves generations.

One fascinating angle to add might be how Scottish folk rhythms subtly echo in rock’s driving beats. It’s intriguing to think that the pulse of AC/DC’s music might still carry an ancient Celtic cadence—something primal and enduring beneath all that thunder and distortion.

  2. Oh, a band with phenomenal achievements! Do you like listening to Rock and Roll, Billy?

I like enjoying Classical Music, bathing my whole self in graceful melodies…

  3. Several years back when I was in Nova Scotia there was a Scottish band concert that I attended. They had the place absolutely rocking. Everyone there was up and dancing either in the aisles or some in their seats. Unfortunately, I can’t remember their name right now. Somewhere I have a CD of their music!

  4. Oh man, AC/DC has been huge with my kids ever since one of their songs was used in PLANES FIRE AND RESCUE. I have a feeling they’re a big reason my daughter got into metal music, lol! 🙂
