The simple act of stroking a furry friend, for instance, has been scientifically shown to lower the stress hormone cortisol and raise levels of mood-boosting chemicals like oxytocin and dopamine, leading to a sense of calm and relaxation. This calming presence makes pets invaluable allies for individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, and general stress.

Caring for an animal necessitates a routine, including feeding times, walks, and playtime.
