In the silent depths where the shadows truly dwell,
A haunting, crushing presence casts its spell.
A heavy, unbearable weight upon the weary soul,
A deep, relentless tempest's grip, beyond our control.
Depression, thy relentless and unseen foe,
Cloaks the vital spirit in shades of unending woe.
A silent storm that violently rages deep within,
Engulfing every flash of joy where the shadows creep.
Oh, how it cruelly dims the vibrant, crucial light,
Dulling all colours, brutally blinding the sight.
A heavy fog descends, a cold and numbing haze,
That clouds the racing mind, obscuring its brilliant maze.
It whispers ancient lies deep within the mind's core,
Convincing fragile hearts that they are left forever behind.
Like a cunning thief, it steals the simple sound of laughter,
Leaving only hollow echoes of lingering pain thereafter.
But know this, dear soul, you are absolutely not alone,
In this enduring battle, true and resilient hearts have grown.
Reach out now, embrace the strength of a helping hand,
For genuine solace lies within the kindness of a friend.
Though darkness tirelessly casts its somber pall,
Remember the sun still powerfully shines, just beyond the wall.
Through the ruin of shattered dreams, a quiet glimmer gleams,
A vital beacon of persistent hope, carried on gentle beams.
For deep within the body's depths, innate strength resides,
A resilient flame within that never fully hides.
With courage, faith, and the steady guidance of love,
The spirit heals, and the crushing pain slowly subsides.
So let us bravely kindle these enduring fires of grace,
And deliberately embrace the light in every lonely space.
For though depression may temporarily hold cruel sway,
Together, we will fight for and find a brighter, certain day.

Beautiful. I especially appreciate “let us kindle fires of grace”. I don’t think those kinds of fires could ever burn too fiercely!
awe thanks David, appreciate your kind words.
May we all be lights of hope to each other. As you said, we can do it together. This is a wonderful poem, Sinclair!
